You need to run VIVE Cosmos Setup before installing the External Tracking Faceplate. If you have the VIVEPORT Desktop App already installed on your computer, run VIVE Cosmos Setup by opening the app and going to [Your avatar] > Settings > Set up a Device > VIVE Cosmos . If you do not have the VIVEPORT Desktop App installed, go to vive.com/setup .
- While using the External Tracking Faceplate with VIVE Cosmos, you will need to use the VIVE controllers and base stations. You can purchase these hardware separately from the VIVE store . (When using Base Station 2.0, only VIVE Controller (2018) can be used.)

SET IT UP
Replacing the current front cover with the External Tracking Faceplate
Slide down and hold the lock button inside the compartment to unlatch the front cover.
Separate the front cover starting from the bottom right corner with the visor facing you. Carefully pull out the front cover until it detaches from the visor.

Place the original front cover inside the External Tracking Faceplate box for safekeeping.
Insert the tabs on the front cover into the slots on the visor. Press the right side of the front cover first, and then press the left side of the front cover.
With the front cover attached to the visor, press the center of the front cover.
Note: You will hear a click when the front cover locks in place.

Replacing the current top strap with the new top strap
Removing the front and back pads
Peel starting from the ends of each pad until they detach from the headset band.
Detaching the top strap from the headset band
Starting from the rear of the headset band, pull down the strap to unhook it. Then, on the other end of the strap, pull down and out on the strap to unhook it.

Align and insert the hooks to corresponding slots. Then, gently pull the strap up to hook into place.

Reattaching the front pad to the headset
Starting from middle, align the front pad tabs with their slots on the band, and then press along the front pad.
You may need to gently bend the ends of the front pad to align the outermost tabs with the slots on the band.

Reattaching the headset cable strip to the back pad
Insert the back pad tabs (second from the farthest left-corner tab) into the holes of the headset cable strip with its flap down. Make sure that the strip is firmly attached.

On the rear of the headset band, align the hooks of the top strap to its corresponding slots. Gently pull up the strap to hook into place.

Align the back pad tabs with their slots on the band, and then press along the back pad to reattach. You will hear a click when the tabs are inserted.

Pairing the controllers to the headset
Make sure the headset is powered, launch VIVE Console and check that the headset is ready and the headset icon has changed to the VIVE Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate.
Press the System button on each controller to turn it on.
In SteamVR, right-click the controller icon and select
Pair controller
to pair the VIVE controllers with the headset.
Follow the onscreen instructions to pair the controllers.

Room Setup
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the room setup process.
If Room Setup does not automatically open, open it from SteamVR. In SteamVR, click ≡ > Room Setup.

Select VIVE on the dashboard
Press the System button on one of the controllers to open the System Dashboard. Select VIVE to access VIVEPORT and the VIVE Reality System.
