PARIS SCIENCES AND INDUSTRY MUSEUM LAUNCHES VIRTUAL REALITY CENTRE, ‘GEODE VR’ WITH HTC VIVE
HTC Vive partners with La Geode at Paris Sciences and Industry Museum to launch Geode VR, the new destination to experience immersive virtual reality.
Paris - HTC Corporation today announced partnership with La Geode, part of Paris’ Science and Industry Museum, located in the heart of Paris’ Creative industry quarter, Parc de La Villette. From December 2017, La Geode will be hosting an all-new virtual reality centre, comprising of different VR zones, offering an immersive journey to explore the possibilities of VR.
La Geode is world renowned for its immersive spectacular cinematic experiences belongs to a site attracting 4 million attendees per year. The iconic spherical building, modelled after the earth, houses a multi-purpose venue including an IMAX dome housing a giant screen of 1,000 square metres, made to discover the history and secrets of our planet.
Partnering with HTC Vive was a clear choice from the start says Laurent Dondey, Managing Director of La Geode adding: “The partnership with HTC Vive is exciting, it opens La Geode not only to a new dimension reinforcing its unique immersion signature in Europe with a new offer. The VR experience takes place in groups of 9, and with the help of a trained coach, participants go through 3 different VR experiences each gradually increasing the level of immersion in the virtual world:
CINE VR 360° - a seated experience, where participants view three 360 films
GAMING VR - two seated VR experiences, showcasing the latest in gaming VR
THE LIVING ROOM OF THE FUTURE – a fully immersive room-scale virtual reality experience. With HTC Vive, the participants can freely move with 360º absolute motion tracking and experience true-to-life interactions with the virtual environment. Participants can play with a virtual dog, teleport in space to understand how the solar system works, tests their skills at longbow archery, take a dive under the sea or join a ballet dancer in an artistic performance.
