Cleaning standalone VR devices

Regular cleaning keeps your VR device hygienic and prolongs its usability. Follow these steps to clean your VR equipment.

Before you begin, make sure to do the following:

  • Power off the VR device.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Prepare the necessary cleaning tools and solutions. For details, see What to use for cleaning.
  1. Remove the face cushion.
  2. Clean the lenses.
    1. Use a rubber air pump to blow away dust and particles from the lenses.
    2. Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe the lenses.

Gently wipe in a circular motion from the center to the outer edges. Be careful not to scratch the lenses or disassemble other parts of the headset.

  3. Clean the face cushion.
    • For a foam cushion, clean using a microfiber cloth that is lightly dampened with water, and then completely air-dry the cushion.
    • For a leather or fabric cushion, clean using one of the recommended disinfectants or wipes. Dry it using paper towels to remove residue from disinfectants. This helps prevent possible skin irritation or allergies.
  4. Reattach the cushion.
  5. Clean the hard surfaces.
    1. Using one of the recommended disinfectants or wipes, clean the hard surfaces you touch the most, such as the top and bottom parts of the visor, headset band, adjustment dial on the back side of the headset, and the controller handle.
    2. Completely air-dry the headset and controllers.
Note: For hygiene purposes, we recommend using disposable covers, such as face masks and head caps before wearing the headset.
