Why is my headset's battery power draining and the connection switches to USB streaming even when I'm using the VIVE Wired Streaming Kit?

If you're using the 30 W PD power adapter that comes with the VIVE Wired Streaming Kit and the headset's battery still drains or the connection sometimes switches to USB streaming, the converter's firmware may be out of date. Here's how to update the firmware:
  1. On your computer, download the firmware update.
  2. Disconnect the headset from the converter.
Important: Make sure the converter is still connected to a power source and its USB Type-A cable is connected to the PC.
  3. Unzip converterfwtool.zip.
  4. Browse for and double-click ConverterFWTool.exe.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the converter's firmware.
Important:
  • Don't disconnect the converter from your PC or power source until the firmware update finishes as it may cause the converter to malfunction. If the update process is interrupted, run the firmware update tool (v. 1.0.0.15 or later) again and make sure the update finishes. You can check the firmware update tool version in Version.txt included in the zip package.
  • If you're unable to update the converter's firmware even after several attempts, it may be because your PC is not recognizing the converter. Try restarting your PC and running the firmware update tool again.
